How can we get the ageing population exercising to benefit their bodies and minds?
Ben Allen and Julie Christensen, Oomph! |

Residential care homes and nursing homes in the UK have diverse populations. From dementia to arthritis, depression to osteoporosis, regular exercise can provide huge benefits. In some cases exercise does not just improve but rather transform the lives of the residents. Before we demonstrate a fun chair based exercise class to the workshop (where everybody will be encouraged to take part!) we will discuss both the physiological and psychological benefits of exercise for the elderly, and what impact it can have.
